Dominic Alvieri, a cybersecurity analyst and Twitter user, was quick to point out that “this has not been handled effectively” by the company’s response to the warning message.

Chick-fil-A has not commented on the possible hacking or disclosed what information may have been compromised. Instead, the corporation has turned to a standard help page to instruct users on what to do in the case of fraud.

It recommends that users immediately change their passwords, delete any saved payment method details like credit card information, and examine data like email addresses and phone numbers to ensure the security of their accounts.

Chick-fil-A has asked its consumers to contact their banks to dispute any suspicious charges while the investigation continues.

Recent reports indicated that hackers were using disposable email addresses to hijack legitimate accounts, with the resulting accounts being advertised for sale at prices ranging from $100 to $200, depending on the amount in the accounts, the payment methods linked to the accounts, and the number of Chick-fil-A rewards points the accounts had accumulated.

The assaults were still being examined as of January 4, 2023, when the firm tweeted that “this is not due to a hack of Chick-fil-A Inc.’s internal systems.”
