Until now, the Android tablet market, including our top picks within it, has been dominated by a few outdated alternatives from PC hardware experts like Lenovo and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series. However, the current order may soon be threatened by a new challenger. OnePlus, a company historically (if not now) known for inexpensive hardware that may kill flagship devices, could revolutionise the tablet market. We have even more reason to be optimistic now that word is a prototype OnePlus Pad is undergoing secret testing in India.
Because both firms frequently share hardware ideas, Oppo’s early 2022 entry into the tablet market raised hopes for a OnePlus Pad. According to MySmartPrice, OnePlus has been conducting trials of a new tablet in India under the codename “Aries.” A name like “OnePlus Pad” or “OnePlus Tab” is possible, although neither is set in stone.
By looking at the specs, it appears like a cheap tablet similar to the Oppo Pad Air may be on the horizon. Not much is known about the OnePlus Pad’s specifications, but the Oppo Pad Air has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC, a 10.36-inch IPS LCD display with a 1440p resolution, and a 7,100mAh battery.
But the article says the product undergoes specialised testing, so maybe it’s just meant for the Indian market. Although the release date is unknown, the OnePlus Tab may be introduced in June 2023, around the same time as the OnePlus 11R, which has also been an India-only gadget in the past.
It has been widely speculated that OnePlus will join the tablet industry since at least the middle of2021, when the company trademarked the name “OnePlus Pad” in Europe. Even if the tablet ends up being an India-only release at first, the business appears to be making preparations to expand into other regions.
