Do you recall Apple’s AirPower mat? It was announced in 2017, and it was expected to charge three devices at once, however Apple never delivered it due to engineering problems. Now that a wireless charging platform is available, Tesla is giving it a go.
An Aira startup’s wireless charging infrastructure, dubbed FreePower, is housed inside the Cybertruck-inspired metal enclosure. Other multi-device charging mats, such as the Nomad Base Station Pro, are built on this same architecture. Up to three devices can be rapidly charged with up to 15W of power using this technology. It is said that users may just toss their smartphones onto the alcantara surface, and their gadgets will be charged no matter where they land.
The Wireless Charging Platform, which provides this comfort, is $300.
The firm behind the charging platform, Aira, was established in 2017 and has so far raised $16 million. In 2019, the company mostly drew from private investors including Jawad Ahsan, Lori Greiner, and Robert Herjavec for its most recent round of investment. As stated at the time, the funds would be used to broaden the company’s target audience beyond the typical consumer and enable growth in new markets including the enterprise, automobile, and hotel sectors.
