More and more enhancements to WhatsApp have been released recently. This year, for instance, it added the option to respond to messages with emoji. In the near future, the Meta platform will provide a picture-in-picture (PiP) option for video conversations.

According to WaBetaInfo, the functionality has been made available to certain beta users and will likely be made available to additional people in the following days. Users can continue their WhatsApp video call in a minimised window and use the extra screen real estate for other purposes. With this function, users will be able to multitask during video calls.

Those who have updated to the current version of WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.79 using the TestFlight app may now make video calls with their contacts. It is stated in the report that a PiP view will be readily accessible while using multiple applications simultaneously. Since it employs standard iOS APIs, the video call view may be temporarily hidden if necessary.

Even if this functionality is compatible with iOS 15 and later versions of iOS, WaBetaInfo claims they have not seen any proof that it has been activated for iOS 15 users at this time. With the feature already present in at least iOS 16.1, it is possible that it will be one of the features supported by the update that officially supports iOS 16, as reported by WaBetaInfo.

Whatsapp is also adding the ability to prevent screenshots. The function is being testing at the moment. The purpose of screenshot blocking is to prevent users from capturing “view once” images and videos for later use. Users can prevent others from filming or capturing their screen while they are viewing shared material with this function. By 2023, if not before, people may have access to this function.

The Meta platform hopes to include Avatars as a new feature as well. The Avatar will function as a sticker and may be used in a video chat or conversation. The “Companion Mode” is another novelty in store for consumers. WhatsApp users may now connect an additional mobile device, such as a tablet, to their account. Web WhatsApp is the only way for users to connect an existing WhatsApp account to a desktop at this time.

In addition, WhatsApp is working on an upgrade that would allow users to delete sent messages for a longer period of time. Users presently have 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds to cancel delivery of previously sent messages.
