YouTube has announced that it would no longer be producing YouTube Originals

YouTube established YouTube Originals few years ago in order to compete with Netflix. This is essentially where YouTube assists with the funding and production of unique content on its platform that is exclusively accessible to YouTube Premium subscribers.

However, some years later, it seems that YouTube may be shutting down. Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s Chief Business Officer, announced the closure of YouTube Originals in a letter published on Twitter. According to Kyncl, the firm seems to be diverting its resources to other parts of the site, such as the Creator Shorts Fund, Black Voices Fund, and Live Shopping.

Another reason for the program’s shutdown, according to Kyncl, is Susanne Daniels’ resignation as Global Head of Originals, which, when combined with other considerations, caused the firm to abandon its Originals. YouTube will continue to create original content, but it will be categorised as part of its Black Voices and YouTube Kids Funds.

The corporation is also anticipated to finish production on shows that had already been ordered and were in the works before to this announcement, but nothing new or significant is expected after that.
