According to the newest rumour, Apple may reduce the price of the iPhone 15 Plus when it is released in September, which is great news for customers as price reductions on electronics are always welcome news.

Trusted online source Yeux1122 on South Korean social network Naver has reported this. The change is supposedly being seriously considered, and would be done due to the existing Plus model’s lacklustre sales.

The 128GB version of the iPhone 14 Plus, which was released with the rest of the family earlier this year, starts at $899/£949/AU$1,579, although it doesn’t seem to be selling as well as Apple would like.

The Saga of Four Cellphones

Even while Apple could stop making the Plus model if it wanted to, it’s unlikely that would happen since work on the iPhone 15 is already well underway. The natural next step would be a price drop for the device that succeeded the iPhone 13 mini.

Keep in mind that for an extra $200 / £250 / AU$320, you can get the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which has the same size screen as the Plus but also has features like a quicker CPU, the Dynamic Island, and the always-on display.

No word yet on the potential size of the price reduction or how it would effect the prices of the other models in the range. In addition, rumours have it that Apple will release the more powerful and pricey iPhone 15 Ultra in 2019.

Setting reasonable prices

It’s important to consider price when shopping for a new smartphone; even if it doesn’t have the finest processor or display, a top budget model may still provide excellent value since it costs much less than the market’s most expensive flagship models.

Concerning Apple’s iPhone line, the Pro versions have been the most popular phones in recent years. This is especially true with the iPhone 14 Pro, since the base model still uses the A15 Bionic processor from the previous year.

The iPhone 14 is slower than the Pro, has a less impressive camera system, and lacks a number of other intriguing features. While the price tag is certainly more manageable, there aren’t many advantages to choosing this over the Pro.

We’ll have to watch what Apple does in 2023, especially considering the existence of the cheaper iPhone SE (2022). One possibility for 2019 is that Apple’s flagship phone finally reaches mid-range price.
