The standard Galaxy S23’s screen could match the performance of its more expensive siblings

While the abundance of leaks regarding Samsung’s next Galaxy S23 series may have dampened the anticipation, we still know quite a bit about the devices. This year’s Galaxy S devices are speculated to have a faster, custom-branded Snapdragon engine, higher-resolution image sensors, and enhanced low-light photography capabilities. According to the most recent gossip, the standard Galaxy S23 model will receive a display update to make it consistent with the S23+ and S23 Ultra.

Roland Quandt, a trusted source for leaks, has posted what seems to be an official specifications chart for the three Galaxy S23 versions, showing that their maximum screen brightness would be identical. Screen brightness on the standard Galaxy S23 will reportedly reach 1,750 nits, according a tweet from Samsung’s VP of Product Management, Martin Quandt.

In comparison, the S22+ and S22 Ultra can reach up to 1,750 nits, while the standard Galaxy S22 tops out at 1,300 nits. If the S23 achieves this figure, it will be a significant improvement over the current base model of the flagship slabs.

If we take this information at its value, it means that the Plus and Ultra models will not get a screen brightness improvement this year.

Tipster RGcloudS predicted back in November that the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s display will be the brightest among the top Android phones now available, reaching a maximum of 2,150 nits. Samsung Display introduced a new OLED screen earlier this month, with a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. It has been speculated that with the Galaxy S23 line, Samsung may choose to employ panels with a higher maximum brightness, but limit the actual brightness available to the user to no more than 1,750 nits. Undoubtedly, some kind of testing will emerge at some point.

Even yet, the Galaxy S23 isn’t only likely to have a brighter screen; prior reports stated that the basic model’s selfie camera will be boosted to 12MP, up from 10MP on the predecessor. To top it all off, Samsung managed to cram a 3,900mAh battery and an enhanced cooling system into the smallest variant available.
