On February 17, Super Nintendo World opens in California

The first Super Nintendo World in the United States will open on February 17, 2023, as revealed by Universal Studios Hollywood today. This is over two years after the first Universal Studios Japan debuted.

With their Power-Up wristbands, visitors may activate the park’s interactive attractions. There will be a restaurant named Toadstool Cafe, a shop called 1-Up Factory, and an augmented reality attraction inspired by Mario Kart called Bowser’s Challenge. There will be picture opportunities with costumed characters and meet-and-greets with the cast. Unfortunately, the Yoshi’s Adventure ride is not coming to the American Super Nintendo World as it did to the Japanese one.

The park looks to contain several Mario-themed locales in addition to the rides, such as replicas of Princess Peach’s and Bowser’s castles. It has been reported that syncing the Power-Up bands with the Universal Studios app enables further functionality.

There are plans for Donkey Kong to receive his own section at Universal Studios Japan’s upcoming Super Nintendo World expansion. Super Nintendo World is slated to debut at both the Singapore and Florida Universal theme parks.
