Samsung’s next-gen SSD for PlayStation 5 will have a heatsink to prevent overheating.

Samsung has developed a special PlayStation 5-optimized 970 Pro SSD. The SSD includes a heatsink that is meant to fit inside the PS5’s M.2 SSD storage expansion slot.

The internal heatsink is intended to keep temperatures low enough so that the drive will operate at peak efficiency for long periods of time. Sequential read speeds of up to 7,000MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 5,100MB/s are available as standard.

A heatsink is also suggested for compatible SSDs, according to Sony.

The Samsung 970 EVO is a M.2 SSD with an endurance rating of up to 500 terabytes written (TBW).
