At MWC, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will at last face some competition

As of right now, Honor has stated that it will be hosting a worldwide launch event at MWC 2023 on February 27 at 1:30PM CET (7:30 AM ET). Honor’s foldable Magic Vs phone will be present, per official confirmation.

The Honor Magic Vs really made its premiere in late November of 2022, so this wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen it. Unfortunately, that rollout was just in China, so we’re excited to see Honor bring the new foldable to markets across the world.

The Honor foldable: What you need to know

The Honor Magic Vs has a 7.9-inch, foldable OLED display that operates at 90 Hz and a 6.45-inch, non-foldable OLED display that operates at 120 Hz. The folding display may be used with a pen, much as on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, similar to Samsung’s foldables, a pen slot is not included with this product.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU, the 5,000 mAh battery, the 66W wired charging, and the triple rear camera system are all noteworthy (54MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 8MP 3x tele). Each display also has a 16 megapixel camera for taking selfies.

The company’s event graphic (shown at the top of the page) reveals that the Honor Magic 5 series will also make its debut on the same day, so you shouldn’t limit yourself to just this one smartphone. There is no official information on the phone’s specs, but we can probably expect flagship-level processors, a bendable back camera system, a 120Hz LTPO OLED display, and lightning-fast charging.

In our review of the Honor Magic 4 Pro, we expressed our disappointment with the phone’s mediocre update promise, underwhelming secondary cameras, and inadequate support for charging via a third-party source. Our expectation is that these problems will be solved with the Magic 5 series from Honor.
