‘Unlaunched’ RTX 4080 specifications from the Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti leak

It seems that the rumoured specifications for the 12GB RTX 4080 are accurate, since the processor appears to have 7,680 CUDA cores, a 2.61 GHz boost clock, and 12GB of memory. An accompanying chart shows that the RTX 4070 Ti may provide around 3.5 times the performance of the RTX 3080 while playing Cyberpunk 2077 in its new Ray-Tracing: Overdrive mode. It is also said that the GPU can run 4K at up to 240Hz or 8K at 60Hz with DSC and HDR.

Since the 12GB GPU is so different from the considerably more powerful 16GB variant, Nvidia was criticised in October for releasing it under the RTX 4080 brand. The 16GB RTX 4080, which retails for $1,199, has 9,728 CUDA Cores, a 2.51GHz boost clock, 780 Tensor-TFLOPs, 113 RT-TFLOPs, and 49 Shader-TFLOPs, all of which are significant improvements over the 12GB variant. Because of the negative response, Nvidia decided to delay the product’s release and look at repackaging the chip.

Although the RTX 4070 Ti’s price has not been officially announced, speculation suggests it will be less than the 899 USD for the 12GB RTX 4080. Since the US has delayed the installation of a Trump-era tax on Chinese-made GPUs and other computer components until the beginning of 2023, Nvidia may opt for a lower $799 pricing point. The 25% tariff has been postponed until September.

We shouldn’t have to wait too long to confirm these specifications and speculated price, since Nvidia is slated to debut the RTX 4070 Ti at CES in January.
