Motorola is making waves in Australia with the Razr 50 Ultra, set to launch in July. This new model introduces substantial upgrades over the Razr 40 Ultra, including improved battery performance, enhanced camera capabilities, and an array of advanced AI functionalities.
Central to its operation is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile processor, positioning the Razr 50 Ultra as one of the initial flip phones to harness this advanced technology. The device features a larger 4-inch external display, an upgrade from the previous model’s 3.6 inches, enabling greater accessibility to apps, photos, and videos directly from the external screen. This versatile display also includes new controls for managing music and connecting with Bose audio devices.
A key feature of this latest model is the integration of Google’s Gemini app, accessible directly from the external screen with a simple long press of the power button. This application utilizes Google’s AI to assist users in various tasks such as designing travel itineraries, curating personalized fitness routines, and discovering new recipes.
With each purchase of the Razr 50 Ultra, Motorola offers a free three-month trial of Gemini Advanced, granting access to Google’s advanced AI models. This promotion also includes 2 TB of cloud storage and compatibility with Google One AI Premium across various applications, including Gmail and Google Docs.
The Razr 50 Ultra boasts an IPX8 waterproof rating, allowing it to withstand submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes—a significant improvement over its predecessor’s IP52 rating.
Upon unfolding, the device reveals a 6.9-inch pOLED display and an upgraded 50MP main camera with a 2x optical zoom telephoto lens. The camera is augmented with AI, featuring capabilities such as a multi-mode photo enhancement engine, dynamic video stabilization, automated action shot adjustments, and an AI-driven super zoom.
The Razr 50 Ultra will be available in three stylish colors—Midnight Blue, Spring Green, and Peach Fuzz, the latter being Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2024. It is priced at A$1,699, with pre-orders available from July 2 to 16 at retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Mobileciti, Amazon, and Motorola’s Australian website. Pre-orders also include a complimentary set of moto buds+ with Bose sound, with deliveries starting July 17.
Kurt Bonnici, head of Motorola Greater Asia Pacific, commented on the launch, stating, “The Razr redefined the mobile phone as a fashion accessory twenty years ago. Now, we’re once again setting new standards, merging sophisticated design with revolutionary AI technology through our partnership with Google.”
This initiative underscores Motorola’s commitment to innovation and its leading role in incorporating cutting-edge technology into mobile devices, enhancing both user experience and functionality.
