Melbourne, Australia – JigSpace, a startup known as the “Canva of 3D presentations,” has raised an additional $13 million in funding. Founded in 2015, the company allows users without technical expertise to turn computer-aided design (CAD) models into interactive 3D presentations, known as jigs. These jigs are used in various applications, such as training, sales, marketing, and product education.
This latest investment round was led by Breakthrough Victoria, part of the state’s $2 billion venture fund, contributing $4.4 million. Other participants included existing investors Rampersand, Investible, Vulpes, and angel investor Hugh Bickerstaff. This round brings JigSpace’s total capital raised to nearly $28 million, including $5.2 million secured in April 2023 and a $6 million Series A round three years ago.
The latest funding highlights JigSpace’s integration with Apple’s $6000 headset, showcasing the startup’s expanding influence in the AR space. Notable companies like Volkswagen, Verizon, and the Alfa Romeo F1 team have utilized JigSpace to offer immersive, hands-on experiences. The global spatial computing market is expected to grow annually by 19%, reaching an estimated $519 billion by 2032, indicating a promising future for JigSpace and its innovative solutions.
With the new funding, JigSpace is committed to creating 40 jobs by 2028 and aims to employ 80 staff by 2030. Grant Dooley, CEO of Breakthrough Victoria, commended JigSpace’s potential, saying, “JigSpace is often referred to as the next Canva, and this investment is a testament to their ability to revolutionize the AR industry.”
Eric Tran, an investment manager at Aura, emphasized the importance of spatial computing in the future of work. “Combined with AI, the technology will revolutionize industries by adding unprecedented depth and immersion to data and content for collaboration and communication. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a 3D model is surely worth a thousand pictures,” Tran remarked.
Tran also highlighted JigSpace’s pioneering role, stating, “By democratizing interactive 3D presentations for everyone, they are taking us beyond what is possible today in knowledge transfer and communication.”
With its innovative approach and substantial backing, JigSpace is set to significantly impact the AR and spatial computing landscape, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
