Recording Audio in 360 Degrees Using the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

Phones primarily focus on picking up human speech rather than any ambient noise. That’s fantastic for talking on the phone, however the recorded video occasionally seems to have better quality than the audio. Samsung hopes to rectify this with a software upgrade that incorporates the two earbuds’ microphones into video recording.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro microphones employ the most cutting-edge Bluetooth LE (low-energy) audio technology to capture stereo sound in movies, a process dubbed “360 Audio Recording” by Samsung.

Smartphones often have many microphones, but it’s likely that the earbuds not only have superior microphones but are also positioned in a way that records sound as a human would hear it.

This innovative use of preexisting hardware has the potential to keep customers inside Samsung’s ecosystem. We believe this to be true if the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are paired with a device running Samsung’s OneUI 5.0 operating system. The Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 are the only Samsung devices specifically mentioned, however we can only hope that other OneUI 5.0 devices will be compatible.

Samsung also announced an upgrade for the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch4 that would enable them to function as a Camera Controller, which was released simultaneously with the audio update. As an example, if you’re filming with a tripod in front of you, this may be a wonderful feature to have. The watch functions as a remote for the camera, allowing you to operate the zoom and shutter/record functions from your wrist.
