‘Private Substacks,’ which readers can request to subscribe to, are introduced by Substack

Substack, a platform for sending out newsletters, has revealed numerous new capabilities, one of which is the ability to create private Substacks. You can host your own private Substack and have people subscribe to it if they’re interested in reading it. Authors have the option of accepting or rejecting subscription requests.

Substack has written a blog post detailing how private accounts function, comparing them to Instagram’s private profiles. The business suggests using a private Substack to maintain friendships, create interest groups, and gauge readership for a future publication.

At any moment, a user may make their Substack private by going to the “Import” section of their preferences and clicking the “Private” button. If a person makes their publication private, then no one except the author may see the content. An email is sent to the author with the subscriber’s information whenever someone wishes to join a Substack. On the Subscribers tab, you’ll be able to see all of the subscriptions that have been requested. If you provide access, the subscriber will immediately get a Welcome email when you confirm their subscription.

Substack has been aiming to cash in on the chaos that has ensued on Twitter since Elon Musk took control, and the debut of this new service is a step in that direction. Recently, the firm launched Substack Chat, a feature that enables authors to engage with their devoted readers directly inside the Substack mobile app. This is the company’s most overt attempt to compete with Twitter’s user base in recent months.

With the introduction of private Substacks, the corporation is making a move to compete with the social media behemoth. For a long time now, you’ve been able to keep your Twitter account private, and now there’s now Twitter Circle, which lets you restrict your tweets to a certain group of people. Substack’s Chat functionality was designed to compete with others like Discord and Slack, which also provide secure channels. Substack’s new product may be seen as an attempt to make its platform more competitive with that of its main rivals.

In addition to the aforementioned Chat enhancements, Substack is releasing a number of additional new features today. A primary goal of the revisions is to facilitate simpler communication with current subscribers. Starting a new discussion in Chat is now as easy as posting a link to a post, podcast, or video with a caption.

Substack is developing a new feature that will allow users to switch between publications without having to sign in or out of the platform. Users may now “duplicate” posts in order to simply re-use templates rather than manually re-formatting each individual post.

The organisation is also enhancing its search capabilities, as seen by the addition of a search bar to the website’s primary navigation bar. The three most relevant articles will be shown on a search results page. Previously, users had to go away from their online mail inboxes to do a search for a certain person, publication, or topic. In addition, LaTeX has made it possible for mathematicians and scientists to include mathematical equations into their writing.
