Apple TV may no longer support Facebook’s smart TV app, which allows users to tune in to different films, programmes, and livestreams on the site. After the most recent update, several users claim they can no longer use the app.
“The Facebook Watch TV app is no longer accessible, but you can still discover a lot of videos on Facebook at www.facebook.com/watch,” reads a message that appears on a user’s Apple TV 4K when they try to use the app. It’s a common problem among other users.
It was only in 2017 that Facebook launched its Watch app for Apple TV, after its debut on Samsung smart TVs. Aside from Facebook’s mobile app and desktop site, the application is also accessible for use on a variety of smart TV platforms. While Apple TV users can cast their phone’s version of the Watch app to their TV, this isn’t as handy as just launching an app on the TV.
It’s not clear whether the Facebook Watch app has been removed from Apple TV because of a recent issue, or if Facebook has decided to remove the programme from the platform permanently. Facebook Watch still lists Apple TV as a supported platform. Apple and Facebook did not respond to a request for comment from The Verge right away.
