When the redesigned Apple TV application arrived in May, it was compatible with Samsung smart TVs and expected Apple products. Apple has promised that the application will eventually run on more platforms, and in recent weeks it has reached Roku and Amazon Fire TV Stick devices. 9to5Mac now indicates that the Apple TV application is available on some Sony smart TVs.
Since Sony uses Android TV, this is another instance of Apple that combines its technologies with the Android platform. Additional functionality is available through a firmware update, which is being implemented in new TVs. Sony did not specify which models would receive the update. But like the 9to5Mac specification, it will probably be compatible with AirPlay 2 technology.
The Apple TV application will give users access to Apple TV +, the company’s new streaming service, which will launch on November 1. In an effort to bring Apple TV + to more customers, the company will make the application available on Amazon Fire TV, LG and VIZIO platforms in the near future.
