The most important member of the Amazon Fire tablet family gets an update: an updated Fire HD 10 tablet. It will keep the same 10.1-inch screen and the same overall design, but check the internal components with a new processor, better battery life and, for the first time, an Amazon hardware product, the USB-C for a fast charge.
According to Amazon, the new Fire HD 10 is now 30% faster, thanks to a new processor, and offers a battery life 20% longer, which represents a considerable improvement over the previous model.
They stay in the real world. There is also an “improved” Wi-Fi technology and microSD storage has been extended to a maximum of 512 GB (compared to 200 GB in the previous model).
Finally, Amazon has finally added for the first time the USB-C to one of its tablets, which, in addition to being much more convenient to load, also allows a fast charge in Fire HD 10. There are also new colors: twilight blue, plum and white, in addition to standard black.
On the software side, Amazon does not change much. It will continue to run the same customized version of Android as other Amazon tablets, although the company is using this launch to implement a new image-to-image mode allowing it to continue watching video content in other applications.
Currently, only certain applications (such as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix) are supported, but other applications should be supported over time. The new feature will be available with Fire HD 10, but will reach the entire line in a future software update.
The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition, the child-friendly Amazon pack, now offers a new case (similar to the Fire HD 7 Kids Edition), which includes a built-in adjustable stand for easy tablet holding.
The rest of the benefits of Kids Edition remain the same: a two-year extended replacement program and a free year of Amazon’s hand-backed FreeTime service, which offers thousands of premium apps, books, TV shows and more.
television and movies for children, as well as advanced parental controls to monitor and limit the time spent in front of a screen.
The price is one thing that Amazon does not change: the new Fire HD 10 will start with the same $ 149 as the previous model, or $ 199 for the children’s edition. Both products will be shipped on October 30 and pre-orders will begin today.
