Before its February release, the Galaxy S23 spec leak offers few surprises

The Galaxy S23 series, which will be Samsung’s next top smartphone line, seems to have had all three of its smartphones’ specifications leak online. If true, they provide a comprehensive look into what the new Samsung phones will provide, from display and battery life to imaging hardware, well in advance of their release on February 1.

When it comes to photography, it would seem that rumours about the 200-megapixel sensor in the Galaxy S23 Ultra are true. Also on the back of the phone are what seem to be three extra cameras: a 12-megapixel ultrawide, a 10-megapixel telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a second 10-megapixel telephoto with 10x optical zoom. The S23 and S23 Plus, meanwhile, supposedly have three cameras totaling 50 megapixels: a primary shooter, an ultra-wide shooter, and a telephoto shooter with a single 10 megapixel sensor and a 3x optical zoom.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 6.8-inch 1440p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, making it the biggest of the three phones. Reportedly, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus have OLED panels of 6.1 and 6.6 inches, respectively, with resolutions of 1080p and refresh rates of 120Hz. It has been reported that all three handsets have a hole-punch notch, a 12-megapixel front-facing camera, and a dustproof and water resistant IP68 classification.

Leaked specifications imply that in the French and German markets, at least, all three phones would be driven by Qualcomm’s newest flagship engine, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Based on prior models, we may expect Samsung to employ the same CPU in the United States as it does in other nations, where it sells its own Exynos chips. In addition, the Ultra comes with your option of either 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage and 8GB or 12GB of RAM. It has been stated that the S23 and S23 Plus would only be available with 8GB of RAM and anything from 128GB to 512GB of storage space.

The S23 has a 3,900mAh battery, the S23 Plus has a 4,700mAh battery, and the Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery. It has been rumoured that the Plus and Ultra would allow fast charging at up to 45W, which is an increase over the 25W supported by the standard S23.

All three phones in Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series have now been leaked in high-resolution images, so we now know almost all we need to know about their hardware. On February 1st, Samsung is expected to introduce the smartphones with what is likely to be a new Galaxy Book laptop. If previous debuts are any indication, though, there should be one or two software surprises in store.
