Hey everyone, it’s that exhilarating time once more! Geoff Keighley is charging ahead with The Game Awards, and the level of anticipation is sky-high.
There’s a whirlwind of buzz and speculation out there, and though I’ve dropped some teasers on social media, let’s get into what those dedicated to Xbox and Windows PC can expect from Microsoft and its associates at this year’s grand event.
Sources in the know, including insights from Jason Schreier at KindaFunny, suggest we’re in store for some stunning reveals. There’s talk of a PlayStation exclusive that’s sure to get its fans pumped. Moreover, look out for a significant multiplatform title across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC that could really get the excitement flowing—though the exact release timeline might still be hazy.
Focusing on Xbox, it appears that the emphasis will largely be on multiplatform games. As I’ve previously noted, Microsoft typically reserves its exclusive reveals for its own events. We can look forward to a Developer Direct early in 2025, keeping up with tradition. Yet, we might catch an early glimpse of an Xbox first-party title that could arrive sooner than anticipated.
Don’t hold out for any new reveals from Microsoft’s first-party studios at this event; those are likely queued up for their own showcases. However, we may get to see some updated footage of previously announced games. The next year’s Xbox lineup is packed, and they’ll probably want to remind us of that at this event.
Much of the event’s substance is expected to come from Microsoft’s third-party publishing partners. But still, expect some engaging moments, possibly even some news related to Xbox Game Pass. Bethesda’s Todd Howard is scheduled to appear, possibly hinting at an announcement, even if it isn’t tied to a new game trailer.
Xbox plans to highlight their strategic content reveal plans for the near future. From their first-party lineup, we can anticipate exciting developments with titles like Avowed, South of Midnight, Fable, and DOOM: The Dark Ages. There’s also plenty to look forward to from Activision-Blizzard, including new content for World of Warcraft, updates for Diablo IV, and the next installment in the Call of Duty series.
No matter which platform you favor, get ready—your list of games to play is only going to get longer! A big shoutout to Geoff Keighley and his team for organizing what promises to be an unforgettable show.
