Cura Day Hospitals Group, with 29 specialized care facilities across Australia established in 2008, has taken significant strides to enhance its IT systems. Spearheaded by IT solutions provider Brennan, this initiative aims to increase system resilience and improve patient services.
At the heart of this transformation is the shift to Microsoft Azure, managed through Brennan’s Azure Foundations solutions. This move saw the rapid migration of 107 virtual machines to the cloud, completed impressively over an eight-week period.
Brennan didn’t stop at migration. They also used Azure Migrate to thoroughly evaluate and refine Cura’s workloads, ensuring the setup was not only performing optimally but was also cost-effective.
Additional upgrades included strengthening security and control systems within the Azure environment, transforming RDP servers into scalable clusters, and outlining a transition for seven SQL servers to Azure’s SQL Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). These enhancements are key to driving future operational efficiencies and cost savings.
Max Diamond, Queensland State Manager at Brennan, emphasized the project’s impact, “This collaboration with Cura underscores the transformative power of targeted IT innovations. By upgrading to a more robust and scalable system, we are empowering Cura to focus on their primary mission: delivering transformative patient care.”
Charl Ingram, Head of IT at Cura, stresses the crucial role of robust IT systems, “Ensuring uninterrupted, exceptional patient care and achieving successful surgical outcomes are at the core of our operations. The enhanced IT infrastructure is vital. Thanks to Brennan’s expert migration to Azure, we are well-equipped to continue providing top-level medical care across Australia.”
This comprehensive upgrade not only boosts Cura’s technological prowess but also establishes a new benchmark in healthcare, demonstrating the role of advanced technology in enhancing the quality of patient care.
