The Galaxy S24 Ultra from Samsung in 2024 will have a new telephoto sensor

The Galaxy S23 line from Samsung is scheduled to be unveiled in February at a special event. However, even before consumers have an opportunity to view the S23 series of gadgets, rumours have begun to emerge about the next S24 series, which is expected to arrive in 2024.

The telephoto sensor of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s predecessors will be removed and replaced with a new system. The new solution is likely to be the periscope zooming mechanism present in many other companies’ top-tier smartphones.

If rumours are to be believed, the successor to the S23 Ultra will arrive in the first half of 2024 with a whole new telephoto sensor.

Ice Universe, a known leaker, claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra would “implement a novel solution” in lieu of the telephoto sensor used in its predecessors. We presume this is the periscope zoom telephoto sensor, although Ice Universe doesn’t specify. Yet, the extension might cover both that and the 3x zoom module if renewed.

But the S24 Ultra’s primary camera is said to be either unchanged from the S23 Ultra’s or enhanced just marginally. Images taken with the S22 Ultra are said to be of higher quality than those taken with the S23 Ultra because of improvements in colour science, image processing, and the implementation of many so-called “AI algorithms.”

While the S23 Ultra seems to provide just a modest improvement in zoom picture quality, the S24 Ultra may usher in some really game-changing innovations. However, the 200 MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor will be one of the most noticeable upgrades to the S23 series’ primary camera, and it will likely be utilised in 2024 as well, although in a slightly different configuration.

Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 was the world’s first 200-megapixel sensor. Multiple smartphones, including the Motorola X30 Pro, have been sighted with the sensor installed. Released earlier this year, the HP3 sensor is a refined update of the HP1’s predecessor.
